Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Chmura.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I moved to South Florida 15 years ago from Boston. I had met various jazz musicians in need of representation who were always asking me to help them out. I started a very popular jazz jam session at Gil’s Cafe in North Miami that lasted 4 years, all the veteran musicians who had played with Dizzy and other jazz greats used to show up and I was in heaven just listening to their stories. From there I started working with the City of Miami Beach Cultural Arts Dept. curating and co-producing their programs and we were on our way. From there we collaborated with the Jazz @ MOCA program which is a free concert the last Friday of the month and are still curating to date. Now working with the City Manager’s office, City of Miami Beach, City of Delray Beach, Miami Lakes and other city offices co-producing their free programing which we love to do. Offering quality music for the public that they may not be able to afford is something we take pride in. We also assist artists with the festival circuit and have co-produced jazz recordings in NYC as well as Miami. We are now a full service production company providing talent, staging, sound and permitting and marketing.

Has it been a smooth road?
We have been fortunate but it has always been a lot of work. Trying to single ourselves out from the competition, by providing quality service we have always done well. Being a woman in the music industry has always been a struggle, which was the main reason why I brought in a partner 9 years ago. Rafa Solano, veteran percussionist for over 35 years. Since then our business has expanded.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with KCC Productions – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a full service production company, a one stop shop. We can provide your event with talent, staging, sound, lights, permits and marketing. We have fair fees for all of our services and always strive to go the extra mile for our clients. We have had the same accounts for years.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Love the beautiful weather and scenery the tropics have here in South Florida, also an array of very talented musicians to work with. A dislike would be finding funding for our programs, funds allotted for the Arts is always challenging.
